Our trauma-informed therapy in Ireland draws on evidence-based approaches to help clients rebuild a sense of safety, connection, and empowerment. We use Judith Herman’s three-stage model of trauma recovery as a core framework, which includes:

  • Establishing Safety: Creating emotional and physical safety in the present moment, helping you regulate your nervous system and feel grounded.

  • Remembrance and Mourning: Gently processing traumatic memories and giving voice to your experiences in a safe and supported way.

  • Reconnection: Rebuilding your sense of self, reclaiming your life, and reconnecting with purpose, joy, and nourishing relationships.

Psychoeducation plays a key role in trauma-informed therapy. Understanding how trauma impacts the brain and body can bring immense relief. By recognising that your responses are adaptive, not signs of weakness, you can reduce shame and increase self-compassion. This knowledge provides the tools needed to move forward.

We also integrate polyvagal theory to help clients understand how their nervous system responds to threats and safety. This body-based approach supports nervous system regulation, guiding you out of states like fight, flight, freeze, or fawn, into a place of calm and connection.

Trauma can take many forms — from childhood abuse, accidents, medical trauma, sexual violence, or the cumulative impact of feeling unsafe over time. The effects can include anxiety, emotional dysregulation, dissociation, difficulty trusting others, or a deep sense of disconnection from yourself. Whatever you’ve experienced, we are here to support you with warmth, empathy, and respect, walking beside you at your pace.
