Support therapy for survivors of sexual violence

Support Therapy for Survivors of Sexual Violence

Experiencing sexual violence can leave deep and lasting scars — not only physical, but emotional, psychological, and relational. Whether the trauma happened recently or in the distant past, its impact can stay with you in confusing, overwhelming ways that are often hard to put into words. You may struggle to feel safe, trust others, connect in relationships, or even feel at home in your own body.

At our psychotherapy practice in Ireland, we specialise in supporting survivors of sexual violence, including sexual assault, rape, coercion, harassment, and childhood sexual abuse. We understand how isolating and heavy this experience can feel. You may be carrying shame, fear, anger, grief, or numbness — all of which are valid responses to something that was never your fault. You are not alone, and your story matters.

Our approach is trauma-informed, evidence-based, and grounded in compassion. We offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you will be heard, believed, and supported at your own pace. Our therapists have specialised training in working with survivors of sexual violence in Ireland and are committed to helping you rebuild safety, choice, and trust in yourself.

Many survivors experience flashbacks or intrusive memories that feel like being pulled back into the trauma. These responses are common — your nervous system is doing its best to protect you. In therapy, we help you understand what’s happening in your body and mind, and introduce tools to regulate your nervous system, manage triggers, and stay grounded in the present.

We draw on approaches such as nervous system regulation, polyvagal theory, body-based awareness, grounding practices, and psychoeducation to support your healing. As trust and safety develop, we can begin to explore the impact of the trauma on your identity, self-worth, relationships, sexuality, and boundaries — always at a pace that feels right for you.

This work is not about re-experiencing the trauma. It’s about reclaiming your voice, your body, and your life. Healing from sexual violence is a deeply personal journey, and we are here to walk beside you — with care, respect, and belief in your resilience.

You are not what happened to you. You are not broken. You are a survivor — and with the right support, healing is possible.
